Presentation Skills Course (AS-101)

Overview
	Level 1, 2, 3, Master's and PhD level
	2 hours per week for 5 weeks
	If you attend 80% of this course, it will appear on your Higher Education Achievement Report (HEAR)

This course will enable you to become confident in your ability to deliver an effective oral presentation. You will learn everything you need to know to be an assured public speaker: How to prepare, what to include, and how to make the best use of visual aids. You will also be given the opportunity to prepare and deliver individual and group presentations.

This course is made up of the following two hour sessions:

SESSION ONE: Introduction and Managing Anxiety

Expectations and meeting people

Mini-presentation task

SESSION TWO: Structure

How to best prepare a presentation
How to structure a presentation
Signposting language
Practice giving an introduction

SESSION THREE: Delivery

Tools to complement content and engage the audience
Considerations for presenting online
Presentation task using delivery tasks

SESSION FOUR: Slide Design

Key aspects of slide design
Practice developing and improving slide design

SESSION FIVE: Presentations

Present a 6-8 minute academic presentation
Peer evaluation of presentations
Feedback from tutor
