Peer Writing Advisor Training

people planning

Do you want to improve your writing skills and gain crucial experience in advising others? For postgraduate research students, whether or not you want to enter a career involving teaching, mentoring or managing others, the new ASP writing advisor scheme can offer you the opportunity to:

  • Undertake free writing advisor training recognised by Swansea University Postgraduate Research Office

  • Develop and reflect on your own pedagogy – useful for HEA Fellowship applications

  • Improve your own writing

  • Enhance your employability record and gain the skills to articulate these skills to future employers

  • Join a community of writing advisors

  • Gain an awareness of student services for use in teaching and beyond

Training will include the necessary knowledge base, 1-to-1 teaching methodology, and develop your pastoral skills and ability to signpost to specialist services when relevant. The two-day course is delivered by experienced Academic Success Programme (ASP) lecturers. The training supports the Swansea University PGR Training Framework theme “teaching and demonstrating”.

Once you have completed the 2 day training, you will be eligible to apply for a paid position as an Academic Success Programme peer writing advisor.
